The Indiana DNR will offer the Indiana Community Tree Steward Program at Taltree Arboretum & Gardens March 23 through 25. The Tree Steward Program is designed for tree board members, municipal employees, volunteers, students, Master Gardeners, and anyone with an interest in learning more about trees and giving back to their community forest.

Topics are presented by city foresters, certified arborists, Purdue Extension Educators, district conservationists, and other natural resource professionals.  Participants will gain knowledge on a variety of topics relating to community forestry and will receive a binder full of tree care information and a reusable canvas bag at the program. Tree Stewards who complete 15 hours of volunteer service will receive a signed certificate from the state forester and a Tree Steward pin. Cost for this course is $30.00 per person and includes course materials, snacks and lunch. Classes will be held in Taltree’s classroom, 71 North 500 West Valparaiso, IN 46385.
